Brad Pitt Talks Wedding Date

Brad Pitt has addressed questions surrounding his eventual marriage to Angelina Jolie while attending the Cannes Film Festival this week.

Promoting his new movie, "Killing Them Softly," the actor divulged details about the most speculated-upon engagement of the year.

"We truly have no date," Pitt told reporters at a press conference in Cannes, France on Tuesday. "We actually, really, truly have no date."

Pitt, 48, has been in a relationship with Jolie, 36, since 2005. The couple shares five children.

"We're still hoping we figure out marriage equality in the States before that date," added Pitt referring to his endorsement of same-sex marriage before noting that his engagement was "something that made sense."

Jolie did not attend the Cannes alongside her fiancée.

"She's prepping for a movie," he explained.

While the couple sort details of their nuptials, Pitt admitted he would "love to" work on another film with his wife-to-be. The couple starred in 2005's "Mr. & Mrs. Smith."

"Killing Them Softly" is co-produced by Pitt and is in the main competition at the Cannes Film Festival this year. The film is set in the U.S. and looks at financial and economic crises as mobsters and criminals struggle to get by. Pitt portrays Jackie Cogan, a hitman, who ruthlessly but "softly" carries out his killings.

"We are playing people with very specific opinions," Pitt explained of his film which overflows with political undertones. "We are clearly living in our country at a time of great divide and so I'm interested in those other arguments that are … certainly not mine."

Pitt mentioned a "toxic" political divide in the U.S. while talking about "Killing Them Softly," reported Reuters.

"It's more about the party winning that argument than about the issues themselves," said the actor. "It's a serious, serious problem."
