Brant Daugherty Mugged After 'DWTS'
Brant Daugherty, a celebrity contestant on this season of "Dancing with the Stars," revealed that he was robbed at gunpoint after last week's competition.
The "Pretty Little Liars" star joined season 17 of "DWTS" to compete for the mirrorball trophy alongside professional dancer Peta Murgatroyd.
However, after a successful performance during Week 2 of the show on Sept. 23, the 28-year-old actor headed home feeling happy when a gunman who demanded his belongings held him up.
"After the show I got dropped off and was walking up to my apartment building and a man followed me up with a gun and told me to give him my stuff," Daugherty explained during ABC's "DWTS" episode on Monday.
Although he joked about it having given away his dancing shoes, toothbrush and a t-shirts, Daugherty later revealed that the mugging took a toll on him.
"It was a complete random occurrence of events and it led up to one of the worst nights of my life after having such a great night last week on the dance floor," said the actor, according to People.com.
However, the star maintained a sense of humor about the items that were stolen from him.
"Somewhere out there there's a dancing thief with great teeth, Daugherty joked. "We like to joke that we changed his life. When he got my dance shoes he swore away his life of crime and he's going to start doing the salsa now."
Meanwhile, Daugherty and his partyer Murgatroyd have established themselves as strong contenders on "DWTS." Their scores so far have included a 22 out of 30, a 23 during Week 2, and this week, the couple was the night's highest scorers, earning 27 out of 30.
Daugherty's main competition on "DWTS" lies in the fellow cast members Christina Milian, Elizabeth Berkley and Amber Riley who have all received high scores from the judges.
While season 17 of ABC's hit dancing reality series just got underway on Sept. 23, two celebrity contestants have already been eliminated; the first star sent home was Keyshawn Johnson, with Bill Nye's elimination following on Monday.
"DWTS" airs on ABC Mondays at 8 p.m. EST.
