Brooke Burke: Reaction to 'Charvet' Last Name Change '50-50'

“Dancing With the Stars” co-host Brooke Burke is no more. Beginning with last night’s season premiere of the series, Brooke officially began using her married name: “Brooke Charvet.”

The usual trend for Hollywood actresses is to change their names in private, but still use their maiden name in public. Kim Kardashian is the recent A-lister to adhere to the trend. For Brooke, using her new name for television is surprisingly unusual.

The reaction to the newlywed’s decision was not as positive as Brooke had hoped. In a People Magazine interview, Brooke revealed that, "It's been 50-50 from everybody, but I'm doing it!"

She later took to Twitter to express her feelings over her decision by tweeting, “some things are more important than Hollywood.” The Dancing host later created a joint Twitter account for the newlyweds so that fans can show support to the couple.

The mother of four married Baywatch actor David Charvet in a secret ceremony on August 12 in St. Barts, France. The couple has two children together, and Brooke has two more from a previous relationship. Brooke tells People that she finally tied the knot because “it was the greatest gift that I could give to us and to our children."

Brooke Charvet is in her fourth season as a co-host of “Dancing With the Stars.” Season 13 of the show airs on ABC on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET and Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET.
