Carrie Ann Inaba Tears Up on 'DWTS' (VIDEO)
Carrie Ann Inaba has made headlines this week after she broke down into tears during last night's episode of "Dancing With The Stars."
The "DWTS" judge lost her father, Rodney Y. Inaba, just days before the season premiere of the popular ABC television series last month.
"It's been a really challenging time," Inaba admitted in a blog post to People.com, which announced the sad news. "Losing a loved one is something that is so very hard to understand and cope with. I'm filled with a tremendous sadness but also a relief, for he is in a better place now."
While she was able to put on a brave face during the first few weeks of the show, Inaba was overcome with emotion during "DWTS" contestant Andy Dick's performance on Monday.
Dick and his professional dance partner performed the Viennese Waltz, which the comedian dedicated to his 15-year-old daughter who was watching from the audience.
Giving Dick his score, Inaba fought back strong emotions.
"It was so beautiful, like the simplest poem," said Inaba through tears. "What you said with those few moments was so beautiful."
Also emotional, Dick explained to the judges that his success as a person as well as on "DWTS" was attributed to his daughter.
"This has been the best year, because of sobriety," said the former MTV star. "My daughter Meg is the apple of my eye. We have a super special relationship. She's like a mini version of me. My troubles become their troubles. I've put them through hell."
The performance earned Dick and his partner Sharna Burgess a total of 21 points.
Last night's episode was entitled "Best Year of My Life" where the celebrity contestants share the most memorable moments of their lives through special performances.
Season 16 of "DWTS" is in its fourth week with its next elimination scheduled for tonight. The series airs on ABC Mondays at 8 p.m. EST and Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST.
