Casey Anthony Parents Tell Dr. Phil Seizure May Have Contributed to Caylee's Death

Casey Anthony may have had a bad mental health condition while her daughter was dying, her parents said in an interview with Dr. Phil, according to Fox News.

The interview is set to air next Monday. According to a Fox News source, George and Cindy Anthony said in the interview that they believe Casey may have suffered from a gran mal seizure, which involves a loss of consciousness as well as violent muscle contractions, at the moment of Caylee's death.

Cindy Anthony recalled in the show that Casey's fiancé, Jesse Grund, told police in a 2008 interview that Casey suffered a seizure in 2005 and called 911 at that time, the Fox News source said.

The source also said that Casey had at least two other seizures, one in 2008 while home on bond and another in the prison between 2008 and 2011.

Casey’s mother suggested that the seizures are evidence of a bad mental health condition, and may have occurred at the moment 2-year-old daughter Caylee was allegedly drowning “in the swimming pool incident.”

“Maybe it is why she can’t tell the truth,” said the source.

According to the Fox News source, Cindy Anthony suggested that seizures could make it difficult “to sort fact from fiction.”

However, Casey is “deeply upset that her parents continue to seek the spotlight,” said the source and added, “Casey just wants her mom to be her mom.”

Dr. Phil McGraw spent more than nine hours with George and Cindy Anthony, according to TV Guide. “We paid no money to the Anthonys whatsoever. They didn’t ask for any,” McGraw tells the magazine.

The interview was granted in exchange for a donation to Caylee’s Fund, said Dr. Phil. According to him, the organization intends to “focus on promoting processes to educate the public about, and advocate for, grandparents’ rights.”

Casey Anthony was charged with homicide in the death of her daughter, Caylee. After a lengthy and controversial trial, Anthony was acquitted July 5, 2011, of first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, and manslaughter and released from Orange County Jail in Orlando. The Florida mother was found guilty only on the charges of lying to law enforcement.
