For Geralt, defeating a bandit captain doesn't seem all that difficult, given all the trials and tribulations the professional monster hunter has faced so far.

The catch here lies with the captain himself, Olgierd von Everec, who has harnessed the power of immortality.

Players will be given a choice over how to proceed with the mission, including recruiting of a band of break-in artists, hobnobbing with a ghost at a party, and outsmarting several of the most bizarre monsters Geralt has faced in the series so far.

The trailer, which makes Olgierd von Everec out to be a sympathetic character unwittingly cursed with immortality, may be hiding a twist when the expansion finally arrives. The adventure may end with Geralt eventually helping von Everec rid himself of the curse, or be victimized many times over when the man refuses to die.

"Hearts of Stone" is also geared at bringing more romance into the game, showing Geralt dancing with Shani, his redheaded love interest from the first "Witcher" title. This is the first time Shani has reappeared since the first game, and CD Projekt Red may be looking to appease fans of the pair with a reunion in the expansion pack.

According to the expansion pack details, "Hearts of Stone" will add more than 10 hours of additional content, including several new Gwent cards players can earn.

The upcoming expansion pack, which will include two Gwent decks, is expected to launch for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 13 with a $9.99 price tag, and boxed copies going for $20. It will be followed by the second expansion pack, "Blood and Wine," in early 2016.
