Chip Gaines is debuting his bald head this week in honor of child cancer research and has experienced a change that extends beyond his physical appearance.

Chip's wife and "Fixer Upper" co-star, Joanna Gaines, shared a touching post on Instagram with a crowd of children from the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, touching her husband's bald head. The experience changed the couple, according to Joanna.

"We are leaving Memphis changed. Kiddos of @stjude we go with your faces on our minds and your stories in our hearts," she wrote Thursday. "Thank you for letting us be a part of your home at Target House. We are cheering you on every step of the way."

Last week, Chip announced that he was willing to cut off all of his hair, which previously brushed his collar, if people donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Chip and his wife visited the Target House with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital this week, which is a charitable housing facility connected to the retail chain Target.

Since Chip called it an honor to meet the children fighting to overcome life threatening diseases, he expressed his desire to help them with funds through his charity.

"Jo and I are visiting the sweet kids at Target House with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis next week, and we are truly honored just to have the opportunity to meet them," he wrote. "We're so honored, in fact, that I want to do something big to bless these kiddos."

Chip explained the impact of the donations that could help childhood cancer patients on the Gaines' Magnolia Foundation website.

"So here's the deal: Next week, Jo and I are visiting the beautiful kids at Target House with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis," he wrote last week. "No family ever pays @StJude for treatment, travel or food—so basically, we want to bring them a giant check from YOU to help cover costs—lets come together to do something big to bless these kiddos." ⠀

It seems the amount of donations exceeded Chip's expectations, since he revealed that would be the only way he would shave his head bald.

"Who knows, maybe if you really exceed my expectations...I'll buzz it all off," he wrote last week on his foundation's website.
