In world history, the statesman and orator Pericles was a general in Athens. The new "Civilization 6" leader was among one of the most influential people of his time. This is especially noteworthy as he spent his lifetime in what historians call the Golden Age.

This period was when Athens was at the peak of its cultural influence, which was supplemented by a strong economy. Pericles was most famous for his successful defense of Athens against the invading Persians.

Plato's Republic, Hoplite, Acropolis, and Pericles' Ability

All "Civilization 6" civs have their own advantages, including Greece and its leader, Pericles. The unique ability of Greece, called Plato's Republic, will give its players an extra wild card slot. The slot will be given no matter what government type is chosen by the player.

Being known for its robust military and defense back in its glory days, Greece also gains a military advantage. Most useful during the early stages of "Civilization 6," the Greece civ has the Hoplite in its arsenal. Hoplite a military unit exclusive to the Greece civ, which gains advantage by getting bonuses if they are located to another Hoplite.

Players of "Civilization 6" who opt to choose the Greece civ will then be able to build the Acropolis. This landmark is Greece's unique building. It also serves as the civ's theater district. "Civilization 6" allows the Acropolis to give higher cultural bonus to its neighboring districts. However, the structure is required to be built on a hill.

As mentioned earlier, Pericles is an accomplished Athenian general, which "Civilization 6" highlights. He will have the Surrounded by Glory ability, which essentially gives cultural bonus to the civ depending on certain conditions. This powerful and well-rounded approach makes Greece an ideal civ early in the game.

Release

"Civilization 6" set to be released on October 21. It will land on personal computers running Windows, OS X, and Linux that meet the game's minimum requirements.
