CMT Music Awards Nominations: Carrie Underwood Dominates

The nominees for the 2012 CMT Music Awards have been announced this week with today's top country music stars receiving nods.

Big names such as Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, and Taylor Swift led with the highest number of nominations this year. The announcement was made during "The Today Show" on Monday.

The blonde leading ladies in country music each received a nomination for Video of the Year, while Underwood went on to earn four additional nods.

Underwood is nominated alongside Brad Paisley for Collaborative Video of the Year with their song "Remind Me," among two others. The "Good Girl" singer and "American Idol" alum are also up for Female Video of the Year as well as CMT Performance of the Year with Steven Tyler for their performance of both "Just a Dream" and "Dream On."

Lambert has four nominations at this year's awards ceremony, including one for her group Pistol Annies with their breakthrough video for "Hell on Heels." She also has three nominations as a solo artist.

Swift is among the nominees for Video of the Year alongside The Civil Wars for their song "Safe & Sound," which was featured in the film "Hunger Games." The 22-year-old is also named in the Female Video of the Year category with "Ours."

Three nominations each went to artists Jason Aldean, Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts, Blake Shelton, Thompson Square, and The Civil Wars.

The top honor of the night, Video of the Year, includes a total of 10 nominees. These include artists Kenny Chesney featuring Grace Potter, Toby Keith, Jason Aldean, and Lady Antebellum, among others.

Fans are urged to vote for their favorite artist through June 4. The ceremony will air live Wednesday, June 6 from Nashville at 8 p.m. EST.
