'Criminal Minds' Season 10 News: Episode 7 'Hashtag' Recap, Episode 8 Plot

Last Wednesday's episode of "Criminal Minds" focused on an unsub who is obsessed with being famous on social media to the point where he'll literally kill people to be in the spotlight.

The episode, titled "Hashtag" opens up in a mall as a young woman shops and takes dressing room selfies with her friend. Back at the woman's home, a person smashes her face into the mirror and kills her, then takes a picture of the dead woman.

The woman turns out to be Tara Harris, an Internet star with a huge online following. The team begins their investigation and find out that Tara had a big fan named Charles and that he was the last person to see her alive. Kate and Rossi head to the mall and take him in for questioning. Later, they release him when he proves that he didn't kill Tara.

JJ learns more about the victim and the growing online mania. Tara was determined to be the next Kim Kardashian, and her death has spawned a new urban legend: the Selfie Killer. Apparently, if someone takes a selfie and a mysterious face pops up in the background, then that person will be on the killer's list.

The next day, Morgan, JJ and Kate investigate the death of a new victim who happens to be another social media star who worked with Tara. The victim was killed with a nail gun. The unsub had also taken to leaving his mark as he left a carving of a hashtag into the victim's car seat. Later, a teenaged boy is seen cursing out the killer in a Vine video, and the unsub goes to find him and kills him.

The team narrows the search and learns that his name is William Pratt. They find him at the mall where he ends up holding a nail gun to the neck of a lady. A news rushes up to the scene and as the camera takes in everything, William shoots the lady, and he is taken down by the team.

Both are alive, but as the team visits William in the hospital they find that he is still obsessed with how many likes his hospital selfie will get online.

Here is the plot for next week's episode, titled "The Boys of Sudsworth Place":

"A prominent attorney goes missing in Boston, and the investigation unearths secrets from his past that could point to the reason behind his disappearance," the synopsis reads.

"Criminal Minds" airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on CBS.
