DC's 'Legends of Tomorrow' News, Cast, Spoilers: How Time Travel Will Affect the Story Line

Right now, superheroes are trying to dominate television as well. DC may well be ahead of Marvel in this department, as it is already gearing up for its most ambitious television series to date, which is DC's "Legends of Tomorrow." This is a big endeavor for any network to take on, with such a huge cast and complicated story line. It has already been mentioned that time travel will be very much significant to the plot of the series, but this can ultimately fail if not executed well. One of the most notable shows that manages time travel well would be none other than the popular "Doctor Who."

According to Screen Rant, showrunner Phil Klemmel took the chance to explain how they will approach the concept of time travel, most specifically death. Klemmel explains when someone dies during time travel, it doesn't mean that they can get a do-over. He is quoted saying, "Death means death; if you lose that, you get the kind of 'get out of jail free card.' You know, we do construct a rule on our show that if you kill me right now with a hatchet, the rest of the team can't just go on for a show, then go back in time and stop you from hitting me with the hatchet."

He further elaborates about the rule that this show is trying to follow in terms of time travel, "Our rule is that when try to interfere in events that you participated in, that creates a time paradox, and black holes, and horrible things happen. So we want to keep those tensions alive; when our characters are in moments of mortal peril, that they do have consequences — that they're not just like, 'well, it's 'Groundhog Day', we'll start over tomorrow."
