Def Leppard Divorce: Guitarist Splits From Wife

Def Leppard's Vivian Campbell has filed for a divorce from his wife of 25 years, Julie Campbell, this week.

Moreover, Campbell also launched a petition in the document implying that he wanted joint legal and physical custody of his two daughters. He also requested that the judge deny spousal support for his wife.

Married in February of 1987, Vivian and Julie share two daughters; Lily Rose and Una Marigold, aged 13 and 11, respectively.

Despite their recent split, Campbell, 50, spoke highly of his wife during past interviews, and even credited her for inspiring him to record a blues record.

"About twenty years ago, my wife heard me sing," recalled the guitarist during an interview in 2010 with Guitar International, via the Inquistr. "She said, 'You know, you sing like a blues guy. You play guitar like a blues guy, too. Maybe you should do a blues record.' I laughed, and told her to go away and stop being a silly woman."

Campbell did not join Def Leppard until 1992 when he replaced Steve Clark as the band's guitarist after the former musician had died. The Belfast, Ireland-born musician had been a member of Whitesnake, Sweet Savage, and Shadow King before joining Def Leppard.

The iconic rock band recently wrapped up their tour, which took them across the U.S. from June 20 to Sept. 15.

Beginning on March 22 to April 10, 2013, Def Leppard will play a 9-show residency at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The band will perform entire songs from their album "Hysteria," marking the first time they will perform an album live.

Def Leppard is best known for their hit songs "Photograph," "Bringin' On the Heartbreak," "Two Steps Behind," and "When Love & Hate Collide," among many others.

The band has sold over 100 million albums worldwide, and has been listed among VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock."
