Dr. José Irizarry: New Dean of McCormick's Doctor of Ministry Program

McCormick Theological Seminary has appointed Dr. José Irizarry as a new Dean of their Doctor of Ministry Program and Associate Professor of Cultural Studies in Religion and Education.

McCormick’s Doctor of Ministry Program offers advanced pastoral study in a community of mutual learning and teaching for pastors and church leaders working in a variety of ministry settings. The program has its core values set on group learning based in context and practice, serious theological reflection, engagement across cultures and traditions, and personal and congregational transformation.

McCormick described Irizarry as the one who brings a broad range of theological and cultural expertise to the seminary. Irizarry received his M.Div. in 1993 at McCormick and his Ph.D. in Religion, Society and Personality Sciences from Northwestern University and Garret Evangelical Seminary in 2000.

Before going to McCormick, Irizarry served as co-director of the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago’s Doctor of Ministry Program for four years.

An ordained minister of the Presbyterian Church (USA), he is currently a board member for the Presbyterian Publishing Corporation and a member of the Executive Board of the Association of Professors and Researchers of Religious Education of the United States and Canada.
