Drill Instructor Tries to Scare Boy Straight, Boy Leaves Him Speechless With Heartbreaking Revelation

Credit :

During her eponymous daytime talk show that ran from 1991 to 2003, host Jenny Jones would routinely have drill instructors confront misbehaving boys, trying to scare them straight in front of their parents, the studio audience and the daytime television-watching public. The show would also pay to send boys to boot camp to help them learn discipline the hard way.

In an episode titled "Boot Camp My Pre-Teen!" a drill instructor gets in the face of a boy and points to his mom, asking if he loves her. The 10-year-old responds, "Yeah," which the instructor makes him correct as "Yes, sir."

The instructor reminds the child that he won't be an adult until he turns 18. He then asks pointedly, and quite rhetorically, "Do you want me to be your daddy for the next eight years, son?" As the boy muses it over, the instructor yells "Huh?!" to rush a response.

The boy answers, and the drill instructor is so emotionally shaken, he leads the boy backstage to end the spectacle.

It seems there's no way to know what became of the boy, as Ms. Jones wrote in her blog in December:

"I'm sorry to say I have not been able to locate him. I've looked at whatever show records I have and cannot find that exact show or any names. ... So far no one has claimed to know them or to be them. I, too, would love to know how this little boy is doing today (he would be an adult by now). ... I'm still hoping someone will recognize him or his mother and contact me."

I'll throw my hat in the ring and say if you know the boy and his family, feel free to let us know at the email address below. Here's the shocking, heartbreaking moment from "The Jenny Jones Show."
