Duggar Family Focus on Jesus for Christmas

The Duggar family recently released a video to let their fans know about their family traditions during Christmas.

In the video, Josh gives fans a look inside Jim Bob and Michelle's home days before the holidays.

"We need to share the blessings God has given us with others and that's really what Christmas is all about," he says. "The Christmas Spirit is all about giving."

The family also takes time to create holiday baskets for those in need, and Jinger, who just celebrated her 21st birthday, displayed some of the items in the basket such as fruit, Vitamin C packets, and a Bible.

Josh then walks to the kitchen and buffet area, where the entire family will feast on turkey, stuffing, green beans, homemade cookies, and other treats.

Even the younger Duggars are seen pitching in, as Jason and Jedediah are seen washing the dishes.

"The true meaning and true spirit of Christmas is right here," says Josh as he points to a nativity scene. "What our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has done for us."

One thing conspicuously missing from the Duggar home is a Christmas tree, and Michelle said that it was not a priority for them.

"Well, we celebrate Jesus' birthday so we have a really big 'Happy Birthday Jesus' banner," she said. "Christ is born and peace on earth, and we really try to focus on the real meaning of Christmas."

Even though they choose to forego a Christmas tree, Josh said that there used to be one when they were younger. "When we were growing up there was a big tree and all that and we knocked it over several times."

Josh then walks over to the piano where several gifts are seen under it, and reveals a tiny tree sitting on the instrument with an ornament that says JOY on it. He said that it was an acronym that their mom always used to remind him and his siblings about the season which stands for "Jesus first, Yourself Second, Others Last."

Jill and Derick were also seen in the video and they shared a bit about their trip, and Derick said that it was a memorable trip for them as they got to share the gospel with the people that they met. Meanwhile, Jessa and Ben talked about what Christmas meant to them.

At the end of the video, the family gathered to sing "Joy to the World" before saying, "Merry Christmas from the Duggar Family!"
