'DWTS' Elimination: No More Hope for Solo and Maks Chmerkovskiy

Hope Solo and her “Dancing with the Stars” partner Maks Chmerkovskiy have marked this season’s ninth elimination and headed home Tuesday night.

The soccer star stayed in the competition through the semifinals despite earning low points from the judges. Solo remained unpopular with the judges after her partner argued with their critiques during a show earlier this season and said “DWTS” was his show.

Professional dancer Chmerkovskiy apologized to his partner after their elimination, saying, “I’m sorry; I wish I could have been better for you.”

Solo responded, making a joking reference to his outburst toward the judges: “Maks was amazing; the producer of the show!”

“I have to thank you for casting me,” added Solo.

The U.S. Women’s Soccer team member noted that appearing on the show has been “one of the toughest competitions I’ve ever been a part of,” and after shedding some tears, left the ballroom for good.

Only three contestants remain in the finals, including Ricki Lake who commented on the recent elimination.

“I love them!” Lake told E! News of the ninth couple to be booted from season 13. “They were on my team paso and we did so well with that,” the former talk show host added. “I think they’re both great people. I think she did great. She came so far and I now like soccer. I never knew anything about it, but now I’m rooting for my goalie Hope Solo!”

Also still in the competition for the mirror ball trophy, J.R. Martinez shared his opinion of the soccer star.

“Hope did a great job this season. She surprised herself, she surprised all of us and she surprised America. I’m sure she’s proud of herself,” said the actor.
