'Elementary' Season 6 Spoilers: Sherlock to Go on an Indefinite Hiatus?
Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) will probably need more time to find himself in the upcoming season of "Elementary."
Executive producer Rob Doherty has revealed the kind of problems the consultant would face in the new installment. According to him, both his personal and professional life will be in shambles. Sherlock may even leave the Brownstone, the house he shares with Joan (Lucy Liu), to get away from things. His work with the New York City PD will be affected. Last finale, Sherlock's doctor informed him that he might have a brain tumor. The next season will reveal the truth about his prognosis.
Meanwhile, an old acquaintance named Michael (to be played by Desmond Harrington) will serve as Sherlock's unexpected confidante through all of this. It has been teased that Michael knew the consultant from way back when both were still attending AA meetings. Sherlock reportedly inspired the man to change his life for the better. Doherty hinted, though, that Michael might have a dark motive for reaching out to Sherlock.

"At least in the early goings, he'll be something of a friendly ear for Sherlock, who will be going through a lot. Michael is somebody who's in recovery and someone who wants to be helpful. But as is so often the case, the deeper we get into the season, we'll see there's a bit more going on with Michael than meets the eye," the EP teased.
Meanwhile, Joan will continue to dwell on her failure to help Shinwell (Nelsan Ellis) before he died. Executive producer Robert Hewitt Wolfe has previously explained that the doctor saw the ex-con as her personal mission, someone she could save. Shinwell's sudden demise has left a gaping void in her heart. She will probably need some time to accept the fact that what happened to him was not her fault.
"Elementary" season 6 is rumored to air in 2018.
