'Final Fantasy XV' News: New Game Details Revealed By Square Enix

Fans of the action role-playing game "Final Fantasy XV" are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, as the game is entering its final stages in development and set for a release this 2016. Information about the much-awaited installment of the "Final Fantasy" series has been scarce, with the last official trailer "Dawn 2.0" released last September 2015. This is about to change however, as the development team at Square Enix recently shared new details about the game, as reported in Tech Times.

The team answered questions about the game through official forums, and according to the Tech Times report, they shared interesting tidbits about the cities of Altissia and Insomnia, warp points and battle modes available in the game.

When asked about the cities of Altissia and Insomnia, particularly how much of these cities are open for player exploration, one of the game's planners, Ishikawa Tomonori said that the city of Altissia has "many and varied locations, such as multiple cafes, ship-bourne market places and parks," among others. To describe how huge the city is, Tomonori even said that those working on the game sometimes get lost in the city because of its hugeness. The planner also mentioned that players can roam the city by walking, but there is an option to ride gondolas to explore further. The restaurants, he said, had "added enjoyment" for players willing to explore. Players will also get a chance to meet unique characters while they are roaming the streets of the city.

When it comes to the game's battle modes, the game will have a system wherein players can switch between different battle modes. Lead game designer Takizawa Masashi said that being able to switch between battle mode will allow players to choose their own pace in playing the game, whether they like more action or a more casual pace. According to Masashi, the decision to put it in this switching system was based on user feedback they received after releasing the "Episode Duscae" demo.

With such a large world and large structures, the game is also said to have multiple warp points which the main protagonist Noctis can use to win a battle. According to lead level designer Terada Takefumi, these warp points "can be used strategically to gain the upper hand" in a battle. Aside from the warp points, the game will also have aerial combat against gigantic bosses and other flying enemies.

The best news for fans is that the game is finally being released this year, after nearly 10 years in development. The report noted that no official release date has been announced, but the game is expected to be launched after March 2016.
