First Lady Michelle Obama Takes the Carpool Karaoke with James Corden in the White House

She does a mean Beyonce!

US First Lady Michelle Obama joined host James Corden in Wednesday night's Carpool Karaoke portion of The Late Late Show with James Corden.

In the much anticipated segment, she sang "This is for My Girls," which is being used to promote education for girls around the world. The tune is written by Grammy award winner Dianne Warren and features some of today's biggest singers such as Kelly Clarkson, Janelle Monae, Lea Michelle, Missy Elliott, Kelly Rowland and Zenday among others.

"This is for My Girls" benefits Let Girls Learn, which is an initiative by Obama herself and President Barack Obama. Their goal is to address the existing barriers that keep more than 62 million girls out of school worldwide.

During Obama's ride along with Corden, she revealed to knowing "every Stevie Wonder  song in the planet". She sang along one of his hits, "Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours", as well as Beyonce's "Single Ladies".

One other thing the First Lady had fun with was being able to sit in the passenger seat and being able to rock it out. This is because she is being driven around so much that she takes the back seat. Obama said, "I've been in a car – maybe it was months ago – with my daughter, learning to drive. That was the only time in seven and a half years that I've been in the passenger's seat listening to music, rocking out like this."

Corden asked her what she will miss most when she is no longer the First Lady and she replied that she will miss the people. Missy Elliott joined Obama mid-ride to sing "This is for My Girls" before singing together to another of Elliott's heat, "Get Your Freak On".

Elliott first met Obama during the First Lady's keynote speech in Austin, Texas. She was impressed by Obama's humility and warmth. Elliott got the surprise of her life however, when she was asked by the people behind Carpool Karaoke to be in the White House ride-along. What's more, she was able to enter the White House and eat on the same plates used by all past presidents.

Due to security concerns, the ride-along was confined to the White House grounds. It didn't matter however as it has now become an unforgettable moment in television history. Where and when else will you see a First Lady rock and rap.
