First Planetshakers Conference in US Opens in San Diego; Webcast Live Friday

Planetshakers, one of the most influential church movements in Australia is making its United States conference debut at Rock Church in San Diego, Calif., during a three-day event that began Thursday. A live webcast on Friday will feature the founders of Planetshakers City Church in Melbourne and the Planetshakers worship band.

"At Planetshakers Limitless Conference San Diego, it's our desire to see people empowered, so they can increasingly impact their world in a way that points people to Christ and encourages them to live life to the full," founder and senior pastor Russell Evans told The Christian Post via email Thursday.

"We will have passionate praise and worship and teaching from some great pastors from various parts of the world," Evans said. Every continent will be represented during the webcast. "We are pretty excited to have the honor of bringing our conference to the USA for the first time. We are expecting those in attendance to be touched by God in a powerful way," he stated.

Evans and his wife, Sam, will be among the featured speakers at the Planetshakers Limitless Conference, including Chris Hill, Ben Prescott, Miles McPherson, and Sergio De La Mora. Thousands are anticipated to attend the event in San Diego, while others can tune into the conference during a two-part webcast/webinar Friday night beginning at 6:30 pm PST. The free event will be streamed on WorshipStream's platform with additional outlets like www.RevTV.com also webcasting the event.

The Evans were recently interviewed on Mike Huckabee's FOX News talk show. Huckabee said that a Planetshakers conference "inspires young people to turn off video games, get off the couch and focus on a greater cause. Their worship experience looks more like rock concerts, but they are very effective in spreading God's message to thousands."

Scheduled for part one of the webcast is a live interactive interview with the Evans, Joth Hunt and Mike Webber, each taking questions via Twitter (@Planetshakers and @RussellEvan67) and via Facebook (www.facebook.com/planetshakers). Part two starts at 7:00 pm PST and is a two-hour live presentation of the evening session.

Announcing the webcast on its social networks recently, Planetshakers heard from numerous churches planning to host viewings of Friday's event. These churches represent countries on every continent, including England, Philippines, Malaysia, Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand, according to organizers.

"Through passionate praise and worship, inspirational teaching and powerful acts of the Holy Spirit, it's our desire to create an environment where you can be touched and impacted by God like never before," says Evans about the conference.

With 300 people attending its first conference in 1997 in Australia, Planetshakers Conference has grown exponentially and is now Australia's largest youth/young adult movement with tens of thousands joining gatherings at multiple events around the world, organizers said. Last month, Planetshakers was attended by more than 200,000 enthusiastic worshippers at a Christmas celebration on Dec. 8 in Jakarta, Indonesia, at Bung Karno Stadium.

"Planetshakers Conference exists to see every person empowered, transformed and equipped to fulfill their God-given destiny," said Planetshakers officials.

Originally formed in 1997 to lead worship for the first Planetshakers Conference held in Australia, the Planetshakers is passionate about uniting generations worldwide through worship. Their goal is to see people encounter God, be transformed by His presence and empowered to make a difference in their world. While they tour internationally, the team remains based out of Planetshakers City Church, a multi-campus, 8,500-member congregation in Melbourne that is pastored by the Evans.
