The pair sparred over the government response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which eventually led them to discussing the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, and the shooting of Ashli Babbitt.
Cuomo, whose brother became a fixture for his daily press briefings during pandemic, asked Carlson to explain what his grievances were about the coverage and response to COVID-19.

"I was completely opposed to from the very first day the idea that you can restrict people's freedom of movement, or force them into taking any medical treatment of any kind. Period," he said, adding that anyone who would defend abortion on the grounds of "my body, my choice" should also oppose forced COVID-19 injections.
Cuomo maintained he wasn't "pro-vaccine or pro-mask," and said he understood the arguments against the restrictive government response, but questioned whether what authorities did was wrong, since it was unknown territory.
Carlson said he thinks authorities revealed they "don't give a sh-- about public health" when they would arrest someone running alone on a beach while offering a dispensation to those gathering to protest systemic racism during the summer of 2020.
"No one ever explained to me how it's OK to infect people with COVID, as long as they're challenging Donald Trump," he said.
The conversation pivoted to Jan. 6 when Carlson suggested authorities would have "mowed down" BLM protesters in 2020 if they had been supporting a right-wing cause, which Carlson suggested is what happened to the unarmed Ashli Babbitt.
Cuomo, who acknowledged the riot was not an "insurrection," later maintained that Carlson "cherry-picked" the footage he aired of the event just weeks before his firing.
"I don't know what that means," Carlson replied.
