'Flashpoint' Movie Spoilers, Cast Update: Iris West Might Be From a Different Timeline

The upcoming "Flashpoint" movie might feature a version of Iris West from a different time period. This is what actress Kiersey Clemons, who will portray the role, hinted in a recent interview.

While speaking to Entertainment Tonight, the actress said that the standalone Flash film will feature different timelines — the bread and butter of the "Flash" comics.

Because of going back and forth past and future with The Flash, you don't even know what time period you actually meet Iris.

"Flash" stories mostly involve time travel. The subject of "Flashpoint" itself involve messing with time and its consequences so it looks like Barry Allen played by Ezra Miller will jump through different timelines — one of which Clemons' Iris pops up.

The actress also revealed during the interview that in this part of the development, it is still being figured out what her relationship with Barry will be like in the "Flashpoint" movie.

She did reveal that they just got a new script and that they are now looking for a new director to replace Rick Famuyiwa — the second director to be involved in the film replacing Seth Grahame-Smith who was the original choice — but left the project last year much to the dismay of the actress.

At that time, Clemons said that while his exit was upsetting — seeing that having to work with him was a big reason she signed up for the "Flashpoint" movie — she vowed that she is adamant in doing "what I think Iris should be" for the film regardless of who is at the helm.

On that note, early in the stage of the development of the project, there are already comparisons of her Iris and the version played by Candice Patton in The CW series "The Flash." When asked if she is using the TV version as an inspiration, she said:

I haven't tried to pull from her at all. I want my Iris West to be its own world.

At the moment, the search is on for the "Flashpoint" movie director. One of the top choices is reportedly the legendary filmmaker Robert Zemeckis who is renowned for his work in "Back to the Future" and "Forrest Gump."
