Fmr. Democratic Party official sentenced to decade in prison for child porn
An LGBT activist and former political strategist for the Democratic Party in Virginia was sentenced to 10 years in prison Thursday for distributing child pornography.
Randon Alexander Sprinkle, 31, was convicted on charges of distributing child sexual abuse material, according to a press release from the U.S. Department of Justice.

Court documents cited by the DOJ alleged that Sprinkle used the name "Randy" to contact an undercover FBI agent on a gay hookup app on May 22, 2025, thinking him to be the father of a 9-year-old son whom he was willing to allow others to sexually abuse.
Sprinkle reportedly moved their conversation to an encrypted app and intimated to the undercover agent, who was with the FBI Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, that his sexual interests include children, rape and incest.
Sprinkle also shared a video with the agent that showed two adults sexually abusing a child, according to the DOJ. He then said he was interested in traveling to Washington, D.C., to meet up with the agent and sexually abuse what he thought was a 9-year-old boy.
After the FBI conducted a search of Sprinkle's Richmond home and seized three electronic devices last October, they found that his cellphone had 43 files containing child sexual abuse material, including some as young as toddlers. He was later arrested on Dec. 14, 2025, and initially pleaded not guilty in January, but was found guilty following a three-day trial in March.

"This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse," the DOJ said.
Pictures of Sprinkle that circulated widely on social media after his sentencing showed him wearing a T-shirt that read "The Queer Agenda: Decriminalize" and listed drugs, sex work, poverty, pleasure, freedom, gender and communities.
Sprinkle was active in Virginia politics prior to his arrest, serving as a finance director for the Democratic Party of Virginia and on the executive board of Metro Richmond Young Democrats.
Politicians whose campaigns he worked on included several Richmond City Council members and state Sen. Jennifer Boysko, a Democrat who represents Fairfax in the Virginia Senate. He also worked as a regional political director for Rep. Jennifer McClellan, D-Va., when she ran for governor.
