Foursquare Gospel Convention Hits Washington

WASHINGTON – More than 3,000 Pentecostals from around the world are gathering in Washington for the 2006 Foursquare Gospel Convention this week.

“Let's not only visit Washington, let's bless Washington!" says Foursquare President Jack Hayford. "Put on your Joshua shoes. Seeing sights and visiting famous locations, enjoy yourself, but do more: consciously bless this city!”

This year’s convention lasts from May 29 to June 1, features more than 75 exhibitions, workshops, services and conferences, and follows the theme “Your Kingdom Come – In Word and In Power.” Workshops cover a wide range of leadership themes from “How to Reach the Latin Wave” to “I Love Church Council Meetings” and “How to Apply for Ministry Funding.”

Attendants will also have a chance to visit the city and the “deposit grace and prayer” at the nation’s capital.

“As we convene, broaden your circle of acquaintance: meet, greet and establish new relationships and deepen existing ones. These are great days of fellowship!” Hayford says.

Speakers at the convention include Hayford, former Chaplain of the U.S. Senate Lloyd Ogilvie, pastor of Faithful Central Bible Church Bishop Ken Ulmer, and actor Dean Jones.

The Foursquare Gospel Church was established by radio-evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson in 1923, and has since grown to an international Pentecostal movement with more than 2 million members.
