'The Chosen' Season 5 (in theaters now)
The highly acclaimed series about the life of Jesus continues with its fifth season, focusing on the events of Holy Week. Known for its character-driven storytelling and biblical depth, “The Chosen” has become a global phenomenon, reaching 280 million viewers worldwide and translated into a record 50 languages.
Parts one and two of season five, “The Chosen: Last Supper,” are currently playing in theaters, while part three releases on April 11. The season highlights the tension between the triumphal entry into Jerusalem and the looming betrayal of Jesus (Jonathan Roumie) by Judas (Luke Dimyan).
“It's our biggest season yet. It's on the biggest stage. This demands to be seen on the big screen more than in any season we've ever done, even the cameras we use, the lenses we used,” creator Dallas Jenkins told The Christian Post.
“This was meant to be big, and yet, my favorite stuff about this season are the small moments, the intimate moments, the time we spend with Jesus and His followers at the Last Supper. […] He spends some time with the women followers and his mother before he does with the men. And there's so much beauty and intimacy mixed with the pain of what's to come that that is just imbued throughout this season and the performances from our cast.”
