Gaddafi Dead: Not Buried, Dead Body on Display for Public Viewing (VIDEO)

Several days after the gruesome death of former Libyan leader Col. Muammer Gaddafi, the body of former “king of kings” is still being kept in a refrigerated room in Misrata, on display for public viewing yet to be buried.

The 69-year-old former strongman was captured in his hometown of Sirte last Thursday and video footage of a bloodied Gaddafi alive and swarmed by mobs of people has caused much speculation as to the actual cause of Gaddafi’s death.

Following the announcement of the leader's death, international organizations called for investigations into the cause of death so as to insure that Gaddafi was not executed. Full investigations were also called upon by leaders such as U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Britian’s Defense Secretary Philip Hammond.

An autopsy report reveled that Gaddafi died of a head wound, but it remains unclear how the head wound was exacted.

The National Transitional Council (NTC) maintains the strongman died of wounds inflicted during a crossfire exchange, not execution.

Others argue that Gaddafi, after being dragged through the streets outside Sirte, was assassinated while in custody of the rebels.

Along with continuing to push for inquires into the death of Gaddafi, many are also questioning the new regime’s move to keep Gaddafi’s rotten corpse on display for public viewing.

Hundreds of people have lined up in the city of Misrata to view the corpse of Gaddafi in what some describe as a "freak show."

According to Islam, Gaddafi should have been buried within 24 hours of his death and the transitional leadership had said that it would bury the dictator privately in accordance with Islamic tradition.

However, with Gaddafi’s rotting body still lying in a refrigerator in Misrata next to his slain son, it appears that the NTC is bypassing a proper Muslim burial and is not treating the former leader's body with dignity while they continue to wait for full investigations to be completed.

NTC leaders have indicated that they want to bury Gaddafi in a secret location, so as to ensure that a shrine is not dedicated to the former leader, leading some to speculate that he might be buried at sea like Osama bin Laden.

Although many commentators are questioning keeping Gaddafi’s grim corpse available for public display, it appears as though some Libyan’s have no qualms about humiliating the dictator after death.

One man told CNN, “God made the pharaoh as an example to the others. If he had been a good man, we would have buried him.”

The man added, “He chose this destiny for himself.”
