Gaddafi Dead: Video Emerges of Body in Meat Locker as Officials Dispute Burial (PHOTO)

The body of 69-year-old Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi, who was killed Thursday, is being held in a meat locker while officials decide how to procede with the burial, according to media reports.

A senior official of the National Transitional Council (NTC) said that there is still dispute among authorities over where Gaddafi’s final resting place will be, Reuters reported.

"They are not agreeing on the place of burial," he said. "Under Islam he should have been buried quickly but they have to reach an agreement whether he is to be buried in Misrata, Sirte, or somewhere else."

There were also discussions about members of Gaddafi's Gaddadfa tribe taking on the task to bury him, but the NTC hopes to bury Gaddafi, along with his son and members of his group of followers, in someplace secret to avoid the area becoming a pilgrimage site.

Although Gaddafi's final resting place is still to be determined, officials say that his body will be treated with respect and undergo all of the traditional burial rites.

"He will get his right, like any Muslim," Addul Salam Eleiwa told Reuters while showing the corpse, which lay on a mattress in a cold storage plant formerly used to refrigerate meats and produce.

The commander of the Misrata fighters who brought Gaddafi's body to the city continued, "His body will be washed and treated with dignity. I expect he will be buried in a Muslim cemetery within 24 hours."

The Libyan dictator was killed after an attack on his hometown of Sirte, only two months after rebels ended a violent dictatorship of 42 years by overthrowing the capital, Tripoli.

Photos and video footage have emerged of Gaddafi being dragged and beaten by a screaming crowd of Libyan rebels, and it was later determined that the official cause of death was two bullet wounds to the dictator's head and chest.

Reuters uploaded on its YouTube account Friday footage of Gaddafi's corpse lying on what appears to be a mattress in a meat locker.
