Galaxy Nexus Release Date: Blogger Unveils Pre-Release Galaxy Nexus (VIDEO)

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is scheduled to release on Nov. 17 in the United Kingdom; however, some have received their smartphones a day early due to being involved with a special Samsung program.

The U.K. Samsung Mobile program provides free phones to participants who blog or vlog about the device, according to technology website Phandroid.

AndroidForums member drandrew18 released a video of him unpacking his pre-released Galaxy Nexus. He showed off the smartphone's basic external features, such as its curved shape and its absence of hard buttons except for the power button and volume control on the sides.

User drandrew18 was unable to give a more detailed review of the phone, because it has not yet been released but promises more developments on the Galaxy Nexus soon.

The Galaxy Nexus features a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 4.65-inch HD Super AMOLED display, 5 megapixel rear camera, 1 GB RAM, 16/32 GB Internal memory, 4G LTE or HSPA+ and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Much speculation surrounded the release of the Galaxy Nexus. While the U.K. had its Nov. 17 release date confirmed for many weeks, recent reports indicate that U.K. customers may not receive pre-ordered phones until Nov. 22.

Canadian carriers confirmed they will be receiving the smartphone between December and January, but no specific date is revealed.

At its unveiling in October, Samsung and Google announced that the Galaxy Nexus would be available in Japan in November; however, no further release plans have been announced.

Verizon Wireless, the exclusive launch carrier for the Galaxy Nexus, previously announced that the smartphone would release "later this year." A specific date has yet to be revealed.

Industry insiders suspect the phone could release on Nov. 21, according to a leak of Verizon's advertisement "Roadmap" that details the phone’s advertisement beginning after Black Friday weekend.
