Galaxy Note 8 Release Date Set for April 19 in Canada

The Galaxy Note 8 release date for Best Buy Canada is set for April 19.

The retailer will begin offering the device on that date which will sell for $430, making it a bit more expensive than the U.S. version. There will be a limited number of units available upon release, so those who are interested should order their Note 8 as soon as possible.

This is still a tentative date as the official release still needs to be made official by Samsung. However, the fact that the Note 8 is already available in the states shows that it should arrive in Canada within the next few days.

The Galaxy Note 8 launched last Thursday in the U.S. and is priced at $399.99.

It is also available in the U.K. and costs £339, which is equivalent to $520. The price difference could be due to its data chip that is included overseas.

The tablet can be purchased at Samsung's Experience Store at Westfield Stratford City and will launch at other retailers in the U.K. sometime soon. The 3G variant is also expected to hit stores in the near future.

The Note 8 sports an 8-inch display with 1280 x 800 pixels resolution and 189 ppi. This is a bit higher than Apple's iPad Mini's screen, which has 163 ppi.

Other specifications on the device include a 1.6GHz quad-core A9 processor, 2GB RAM, and special features such as Smart Stay that allows the tablet to recognize if the owner is still awake. This will make it automatically go on standby once the owner falls asleep or stops using it. It is said to be seamless and very responsive.

Samsung has also decided to protect the environment with its new plan to offer both the Galaxy S4 smartphone and Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet in 100M recyclable boxes.
