George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin Wedding News: President Obama Not Attending, Says Publicist
The paparazzi and tabloids have been outsmarted by the Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie secret nuptial ceremony last weekend, so the media is now paying close attention to the next wedding event of Hollywood personality George Clooney and fiancée Amal Alamuddin.
The news of the two getting married spread like wildfire when the actor and British lawyer posted their wedding banns at Chelsea Town last month.
As circulated in most media outlets, Clooney and Alamuddin will be exchanging vows at the husband-to-be's estate in Lake Como home Villa Oleandra in Laglio, Italy. As further specified by E! News, the couple wants their proceeding to be "intimate with quiet but happy and fun dinners and lunches."
It has earlier been reported that other Hollywood names like Julia Roberts, Sandra Bullock and Matt Damon will be flying to Italy for a week to attend the said event.
But one of the most controversial rumors tied to the Clooney-Alamuddin nuptial is the invitation sent for President Obama, which turned out to be false. The soon-to-be groom's publicist Stan Rosenfield spoke with Page Six to shed light on the speculation.
"The president was not invited. He has more important things to do," he said. "The amount of misinformation that is being reported regarding this wedding is astounding."
It had been previously reported by the National Enquirer that the Commander-in-Chief "RSVP'd 'YES'" to the invitation.
Meanwhile, more information from the people in the know specified that Clooney's best friend and newly married Brad Pitt will be the best man, while others assumed that it will be Cindy Crawford's husband Rande Gerber who will stand by the groom.
Furthermore, U.S. actress Ellen Barkin, with whom Amal spent during her bachelorette party last week, is said to be a bridesmaid.
The 53-year-old actor and the human rights lawyer met at a charity event last year, dated in September, and in April this year, Mr. Clooney made her proposal to Miss Alamuddin with a seven-carat diamond engagement ring.
As stipulated, the Italian wedding event will be taking place any day now.
