'Girl Meets World' Season 4 Spoilers, Air Date and Updates: Fans Continue to Clamor for Disney Sitcom's Renewal; Unsupported Cancellation Theories Mount

"Girl Meets World" (GMW) Season 4 remains uncertain as Disney Channel has not yet given the green light to a new installment. Avid fans continue to appeal to the network for renewal after some unsupported theories regarding the show's cancellation spread around.

Online Petitions

A fan named Ashley Carter initiated an online petition urging the Disney Channel to get the show signed for Season 4. The petitioner warned the network that it will lose a lot of viewers if it will decide to cancel the coming-of-age television sitcom.

As of press time, the three-month-old petition already gained more than 16,000 supporters. It targets to accumulate a total of 25,000 signatures before delivering the output to the decision makers.

Jemima Alford, one of the supporters, commented that she joined the petition because she believes GMW is a good show. She also wrote that she hopes to see the GMW characters grow up just like the characters of its prequel "Boy Meets World" (BMW).

Carter's online petition is only one among several online movements that pressure Disney Channel to renew the show or move it to another network. Smurf Vlogs' six-month-old online appeal already garnered almost 49,000 supporters. The petition requests for GMW's transfer from Disney Channel to Freeform, where it can freely tackle mature subjects and get the number of seasons that it deserves.

Unsupported Theories About The Show's Cancellations

Along with the fans' movements to help the show get its well-deserved Season 4, several theories regarding the show's cancellation surfaced in the past days.

A website reported that stars Rowan Blanchard (Riley Matthews) and Sabrina Carpenter (Maya Hart) demanded the network to shed light about the show's future. The article also claimed that there are rumors suggesting GMW will be axed to pave way for the revival of BMW. However, the report failed to cite any credible source for the theories and rumors.

Another report claimed that a behind-the-scenes photo of Blanchard hints the show's cancellation. The actress was allegedly caught in the photo breaking down after filming the final episode. Just like other reports, the article did not provide any reliable source or link to the photo.

Cancelled or Renewed?

A representative of Disney Channel told TVLine in July that the episodes of the third season will air until 2017. The insider added the network has no news to share yet regarding the show's fourth season. As of press time, the network remained silent about the show's renewal or cancellation.

The 14th episode of "Girl Meets World" Season 3 aired on Disney Channel on Sept. 23. The hit sitcom will take a short hiatus for two weeks. Its 15th episode "Girl Meets World of Terror 3" will return on Oct. 14 in time for the network's Halloween programming.
