'Girl Meets World' Season 4 Spoilers, News & Updates: Did August Maturo Confirm Disney Channel Sitcom's Cancellation?

The avid fans of "Girl Meets World" (GMW) continue to worry as Disney Channel remains elusive about the sitcom's Season 4. A recent tweet of child star August Maturo was heavily perceived as a veiled confirmation about the show's cancellation.

Auggie's Short but Meaningful Tweet

As previously reported, the official account of GMW writers tweeted out the titles of the remaining episodes of the third season. The inclusion of the word "Goodbye" in the tweet ignited concerns from GMW fans that the coming-of-age sitcom will not return for a fourth season.

Maturo, who plays Auggie Matthews on the show, fueled the speculations. He replied to the GMW writers' tweet and said that he is not yet ready to say goodbye to the show.

The child star's tweet immediately sent some fans into a bit of a frenzy. Some interpreted that the 9-year-old actor is already aware about the sitcom's future and his short reply is an indirect confirmation about the cancellation.

More Cancellation Hints from Cast Members

It is not the first time that a GMW star's social media post was perceived as a hint of the show's cancellation. Uriah Shelton, who plays Joshua Matthews in the sitcom, seemingly confirmed the cancellation in July after he posted a photo of the cast on Instagram with a cryptic caption.

The 19-year-old actor wrote that he is incredibly proud to be a part of the show. He added that he will miss his co-stars.

The previous social media posts of lead star Rowan Blanchard (Riley Matthews) also ignited speculations that Disney already axed the hit coming-of-age series. She tweeted in July that she will never forget the cast and crew of the show who already became her family.

Show's Future Remains Uncertain

As of press time, Disney Channel has not yet issued any official statement regarding the show's cancellation or renewal. The network told TVLine in July that the episodes of the third season will air until early 2017 and there is no news to share yet about Season 4.

In the past months, rumors are rife that the Disney Channel will cancel the sitcom because of its declining number of viewers. Although the show continues to engage a fairly high number of viewers, the Season 3 is on track to becoming the installment with the least number of audience shares.

There are still five episodes left for GMW Season 3. The upcoming episode "Girl Meets Her Monster" (Episode 16) will feature a major Topanga-Riley fight.
