Gucci Mane Indicted for Allegedly Assaulting US Soldier

Gucci Mane was indicted Tuesday for allegedly attacking a U.S. soldier at Harlem Nights nightclub March 16. The rapper, born Radric Davis, was in the Atlanta club, a fan wanted to take a picture with him, but he allegedly lashed out instead.

Gucci Mane was indicted on charges of aggravated assault against U.S. soldier James Lettley, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The rapper struck the man with a champagne bottle, causing him to require 10 stitches at Grady Memorial Hospital, and Gucci Mane turned himself in 10 days later.

"I'm in the military. I wanted to get a picture with Gucci Mane, is it OK?" the soldier recalled telling the rapper's bodyguard. It was then that the 33-year-old entertainer reportedly assaulted him, WSBTV reported.

After turning himself in to police because of the warrant out for his arrest, Davis was denied bond, according to MTV News. The emcee spent two weeks behind bars while authorities investigated and a decision was reached.

"Mr. Davis has a history, we're not going to skirt that issue, and that history made it difficult for him to get bond today," defense attorney Drew Finding told WSBTV at the time.

Only several days after the incident with Lettley, Gucci Mane was accused of a similar altercation with another man in Philadelphia. The rapper was reportedly at a bar in the city when the alleged assault occurred- the "Lemonade" rapper reportedly punched the unnamed man in the face, according to MTV News.

"I haven't ever been humiliated in my life and disrespected," the victim told MTV. "He punched me on the left side of my face, right here in the jaw, knocking off my glasses."

These two incidents are far from the only times Davis has been arrested. Since 2005, the rapper has been busted over five times for assault, weapons charges, drugs, and murder, although he was acquitted.
