Halle Berry Related to Sarah Palin 'In Some Twisted Way'

Halle Berry recently stunned fans after revealing that she and former Republican vice presidential hopeful, Sarah Palin, are distant relatives.

The "Cloud Atlas" star made the surprising revelation during a recent video interview with "Extra's" Jerry Penaoli.

"You wanna know who I'm related to? Sarah Palin!" Berry said. "In some twisted way...somebody sent me this information that she was my distant [relative]."

Fans flocked to social networking sites where many speculated exactly how Berry, 46, who was born to an English mother and African-American father, is related to Palin, who is a mixture of English, Irish, and German ancestry.

"Wait Halle Berry related to Palin?? But she's black and Palin is white...someone pls explain this madness," Sophia tweeted.

"WOW I never would have guessed that LOL! Halle Berry and Sarah Palin related? What the?? Weird," Clause. R tweeted.

"Dear Halle Berry, admitting to the world that you're related to Sarah Palin?! why are you proud of that!? how?! my respect for you is lost," Louisa Slappey tweeted.

Palin, who recently made headlines due to her substantial weight loss, is yet to comment on Berry's revelation.

The 48-year-old recently stunned onlookers while shopping with her daughter Willow in California's Studio City. In response to criticism and questions about her weight loss, the mother of five explained that she and her family members are currently writing a fitness book to help others lose weight.

"Our family is writing a book on fitness and self-discipline focusing on where we get our energy and balance as we still eat our beloved homemade comfort foods!" Palin told People.com. Palin described the project as a "unique and motivating book" before assuring that "we promise you what we do works and allows a fulfilling quality of life and sustenance anyone can enjoy."
