Fans will remember that Hill cited the Yankees and Astros as two of the teams that were chasing him as a free agent last winter. However, he of course opted to return to the Dodgers in a $48 million, three year deal.

Hill be will be delighted that he made that decision, and now he is making his World Series debut at the age of 37. Putting that achievement into perspective; just over two years ago he was pitching in independent league baseball with the Long Island Ducks.

Hill has said, "Really going back and thinking about that it was a great experience. I wouldn't change that for anything. It was learning, again, reigniting that fire, reigniting that passion for what we do out there on the field. And really getting back into disassociating yourself with the results and just understanding that it is a pitch-to-pitch process and understanding that the moment is all that matters."

But Hill will be up against someone who is fast becoming a legend in the game, Justin Verlander. He has always shown he was one of the best in the MLB, but since joining the Astros he has risen to a different level and many would argue he is the best pitcher in baseball right now.

Since joining Houston he has taken the mound nine times, with eight starts and once as a relief, and he has won all nine games. Across those nine outings he has allowed just eight runs, taken 67 strikeouts, given up 11 walks and has recorded a wildly impressive 1.23 ERA.
