HTC One to Launch on Verizon Running Android 4.2.2, JellyBean

The HTC One smartphone could launch on Verizon running Android 4.2.2, JellyBean software.

The device was recently spotted by an XDA-developers forum user who works for Sprint. He stated that he saw a Verizon version of the HTC One in his store that was running Android 4.2.2.

"HTC rep is at my location showing off the one. Asked about the 4.2.2 update and he pulled out a Verizon one running it with notification controls in tow," he wrote. "Looks like Verizon's will launch with 4.2.2 with us getting the update near there as well."

Based on his report, HTC will begin rolling out the update once Verizon releases its version of the HTC flagship. The smartphone is currently available for other American carriers including AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile.

HTC denied that fact that the smartphone would launch on the carrier in the past. The company recently stated that it would make a big fuss if it was about to release the smartphone on Verizon.

HTC is also rumored to be releasing a mini version of the One smartphone as specifications for this variant leaked onto the internet earlier this month.

The information surfaced on @evleaks as a device codenamed the M4, and another report from PhoneArena affirmed that this leak was legitimate. The device is expected to look identical to current version. It will also be used to target customers who are in the market for something smaller and cheaper than some of the current handsets being offered by various smartphone makers.

Rumored specifications for the M4 include a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, a 4.3-inch display with 720p resolution, 2GB RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 1.6-megapixel front camera, 1700mAh battery, and Android 4.1, JellyBean.
