Indianapolis Colts Roster News: Team Fires Offensive Coordinator Pep Hamilton after Another Loss
The Indianapolis Colts suffered a painful, thrilling loss to the undefeated Carolina Panthers, 29-26, in Charlotte, and in less than a day after the defeat, the team decided to fire offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton.
Talk about looking for someone to blame.
The team is currently having a mediocre, borderline bad season; they do have a 3-5 record and still can make it up as the season goes deeper, but everyone in the organization cannot deny that team officials are at odds with each other.
The Inquisitr reported that general manager Ryan Grigson had an argument with owner Jim Irsay, while coach Chuck Pagano also had some brief misunderstanding with the general manager.
The 41-year-old Hamilton first served as the quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator at Stanford, with his prized pupil Andrew Luck. So when the Colts had a vacancy after the 2012 season, they hired Hamilton for the objective of having him work with Luck.
The Colts didn't expect this kind of performance at the start of the season; in fact, team officials thought this team is good enough to reach the Super Bowl. But it isn't looking pretty so far, with their 3-5 record quite deceiving since they actually haven't won any game that's outside their division in the AFC South.
But no one can really blame them from ambitioning a Super Bowl appearance since they had a good season last time, going 11-5 and advancing to the AFC title matchup.
Taking the Fall
With a team of high expectations, it became apparent that someone should be taking the fall, and this time it is Hamilton. Pagano may also be on his way out considering that he is in the final year of his contract. And if that's not enough misfortune or sheer bad luck, the Colts will be playing the best defensive team in the NFL on Sunday, the Denver Broncos.
