Inspiring Story of a Severely Disfigured Man Who Won't Stop Serving the Lord: 'If God's Called You to Do Something, Then Do It' (VIDEO)

"If God's called you to do something, then do it."

These encouraging words would be at home at any sermon or motivational speech, but hearing Brad Dowling say them add so much more meaning.

Dowling suffers from neurofibromatosis, a genetic disorder that causes thousands of tumors to grow on nerve tissue, sometimes internally, others times on the skin where they result in severe disfigurement. In November 2013, Pope Francis kissed a man who suffered neurofibromatosis whose face was covered in boils.

Dowling's face is similarly marked by the tumors, but his unique appearance doesn't keep him from fulfilling his purpose.

"Once you start letting something get to you, then it will stop you doing what you're actually supposed to be doing," he says in this video.

And Brad's work is with the children's ministry at Hillsong Church in Australia. With over 20 years of service, he's not letting his condition slow him down. However, it's not only ambition that drives him; it's the power of Christ in his life.

"I definitely wouldn't be doing the same things I'm doing now had I not met Christ."
