iPad 5 Rumors: Device Assembled in New Video, Hints at Imminent Release Date

iPad 5 rumors have been surfacing more and more hinting at an imminent release date for the device.

The latest information leak on the tablet involves a short video posted by the Japanese site Mac Otakara that shows the front panel and back shell of the iPad 5 assembled together for the first time.

This rear shell features a transparent and translucent logo instead of the silver one found in some of the other leaks. The fifth-generation iPad is expected to be released by the company sometime next month. The fact that the entire outer shell has showed up in this clip hints that the release date is quickly approaching.

Other photos of what were believed to be the iPad 5th generation rear shell surface last week pointing to the device featuring a similar design to the iPad mini.

The shell is silver and the photos highlight several features of the part including the separate volume buttons, dual speakers near the device's lightning port on the bottom edge, and a narrower lip for display assembly than what is found on the current model.

The Apple logo on the component is the same silver color as on the iPad mini. However, it is not clearly shown on any of these photos. The black rear of the Apple logo insert can be seen in a photo of the inside of the shell.

Features for the iPad 5th generation model could also include a 13-inch display.

Apple is currently testing a tablet with that screen size, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal. The publication also claims that the company is testing out iPhones with larger displays, however, that is not surprising as Apple's next-gen smartphone is expected to feature a bigger screen than its predecessors.
