iPad Air 3 Release: March Launch Expected, No 3D Touch Feature
The iPad Air 3 was reportedly still in the works in November 2015, but now rumors have emerged saying the new device could be released as early as March 2016.
Just last December, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said Apple could release the iPad Air 3 within the first half of 2016. However, the Apple insider said the device will not have the 3D Touch feature available in the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, according to Tech Times.
Kuo also mentioned other specs and features expected to be included in the iPad Air 3. He explained that Apple had faced a lot of difficulties with the production of devices with the 3D Touch feature. Although the Cupertino firm is planning to incorporate the feature into its tablets, it will not be able to do it with the iPad Air 3, the report details.
Fans have previously expected Apple to unveil the iPad Air 3 during its event on Sept. 9, 2015, but the firm only revealed the iPad Pro and the iPad Mini 4. The tech giant may have decided against including the iPad Air 3 at the time because they wanted to give the iPad Pro some leeway before the next-generation iPad Air enters the scene. The latest rumors now point to a spring 2016 launch for the new tablet, Mac Rumors reports.
Rumor has it that the iPad Air 3 will run the A9X chip and will have 2 GB to 4 GB of RAM. It is also expected to be slicker at only 5 millimeters thick. Plus, the device will sport a 9.7-inch 4K display, an 8-megapixel rear snapper, 2.1-megapixel front camera, and a fingerprint sensor.
Aside from that, the upcoming iPad Air is expected to be water and dust resistant, taking its cue from the Apple Watch. However, its battery will reportedly be downgraded from the 3,340 mAh battery seen in its predecessor.
It is worth noting that the details on the iPad Air 3's specs, features, and release date are still unconfirmed. Apple could still hold the device indefinitely, or it could also launch the tablet this March. More information on the device is expected to surface in the next few months.
