iPhone 5 Release Date: Cases Already Selling for New iPhones

Case-maker Hard Candy, in anticipation of today's announcement of Apple's new iPhone, has already started selling cases for the soon-to-be revealed devices.

The company is reportedly in the process of manufacturing 50,000 cases for a mystery Apple device. They are ready to ship to retailers at a moment's notice.

Tim Hickman, CEO of Hard Candy, told the Cult of Mac website that his company received dimensions data "from three sources" that reveal an iOS-based device. The dimensions of the device are said to include a 4.44-inch screen and wide home button underneath the screen. Hard Candy also noted that the device will be about 4.83 inches tall and 2.63 inches wide. Its thickness comes in at 0.28 inches.

The device is said to be larger than the "iPhone 4" and also a bit thinner. A much larger Home button that is rumored to be working with the new Assistant voice control feature was also noted by the sources.

Hickman feels that the specs for this device are that of a new "iPod Touch." It may also be the "iPhone 4S" or "iPhone 5" models that are set to be revealed today. His Hard Candy company is said to have taken similar bets in the past on upcoming devices and have been right every time. Hickman's entire quote about the info his company received is below:

"The mystery device is wider, taller and thinner than the iPhone 4. It has a tapered design which makes it feel very slim. It has a much larger screen than anyone is expecting - 4.44-inches diagonal. The Home button is lozenge-shaped. The mystery device is 4.83-inches tall, 2.63-inches wide, and .28-inches thick. It is thicker at the top than the bottom. Other external details are similar to the iPhone 4, except the Mute button has been moved to the other side."

The company's website is currently showcasing and selling iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 cases.

The "Bubble Shell iPhone 5" case, which shows an image of what Hickman believes the iPhone 5 will look like, is available for pre-order at $34.95.

The "Bubble Shell" case for the iPhone 4S is also available for $34.95. Even more cases may be in store for Apple's new smartphones.
