iPhone 5 Release Date: How Will iOS 5 Stack Up to the Competition?

The unveiling of Apple’s iPhone 5 is rumored to be just weeks away and the new device is set to run on the company’s new iOS 5.

Gadget fiends are wondering how the new iOS 5 will stack up to fierce competitors like Android and the upcoming Windows Mango.

For starters, the operating system brings a collection of new features that should be able to hold Apple users over until they can collect enough change to spring for a new smartphone or at least until their contract ends.

Tech site, GottaBeMobile recently gave iOS 5 a test run which spanned over several months and were happy with the end result.

According to the site, Apple offers an updated notification center.

This feature provides the user with a better way to receive notifications for emails, texts and from apps.

It also has News Stand which allows the user to access all of their newspaper and magazine subscriptions in one place.

Twitter will also be easier and more convenient to use on the new iOS, so for a celebrity or just a person with a lot of followers this system probably the best choice for them.

The Safari experience also has been improved on the system as it now gives the user the ability to sync reading lists between all their Safari browsers.

User’s fond of capturing every moment will also be pleased with iOS 5 as it now allows for photographers to use the volume buttons to take pictures. It also offers pinch to zoom and tap to focus on a particular area.

iPhone users also will not need a PC anymore to perform upgrades of activations since iOS 5 offers a PC Free feature which replaces it.

One more key feature to note is the iMessage. For the longest time Blackberry users bragged about BBM, (Blackberry Messenger) a service which allows users to send messages without getting charged text message fees and now with iMessage, iPhone users will get to enjoy the same feature as it clones the RIM created version.
