iPhone 5 Release Date: New Features Include 1GB of Ram, A5 Processor and 8MP Camera

The iPhone 5 is expected to be unveiled at an Apple media event on October 4 and the new device received a considerable beef-up in hardware, according to tech site 9to5 Mac.

The next generation iPhone will come with 1GB of RAM. By including this in the smartphone, the new device will be capable of performing tasks much faster than previous models. Samsung’s Galaxy S2 also sports this 1GB of RAM and reviewers have been raving about the difference it makes in the speed department.

The iPhone 5 will also run on a dual-core A5 processor like the iPad 2. This should make for better gaming on the device along with an overall faster performance. Combined with the RAM this phone should be able to compete with the Galaxy S2 in terms of speed.

Tasks like surfing the web and running brand new features that Apple will introduce will also run much quicker.

The iPhone 5 will also sport an 8 megapixel camera capable of filming in 1080p High-Definition resolution. It makes the device able to take incredibly high-resolution and clear shots, even in low light conditions because it has a backlit sensor.

Panorama photography references have also been found in iOS SDK on multiple occasions which means that this feature with probably be included in the next generation iPhone.

A Qualcomm Gobi Baseband chip will also be included in the new iPhone which will make the device capable of operating on both GSM and CDMA networks.

According to 9to5 Mac, it cannot be confirmed if the rumors that Apple was building a virtual SIM card system or if it will include an NFC chip in the new iPhone are true.

The iPhone 5 will enter a landscape of new high-end smartphones and so far it looks like the device can stack up next to competitors like Samsung’s Galaxy S2.
