iPhone 5 Release Date: Pre-Order Customers Still Waiting for iPhone 4S to Ship

Some Apple customers are still waiting to receive their pre-ordered iPhone 4S’s in the mail.

Many customers pre-ordered the smartphone before its Oct.14 release, but retailers said it could take between 21 and 28 days for an iPhone 4S to ship.

Pre-orders for the iPhone 4S began on Oct.7 and hit the 1 million mark within 24 hours of sales.

Many customers opted to pre-order, because they thought it would ensure their smartphones prompt arrival. They also wanted to avoid long lines at Apple, AT&T, Verizon and Sprint stores.

However, those customers have learned that waiting in line may have been the quicker option.

RealityPod spoke to an iPhone 4S pre-order customer who is still waiting to receive her smartphone.

"I’m a little peeved that I’ve been walking around with a cracked screen Apple iPhone 3Gs for a month and a half, waiting for the new iPhones to come out,” said the customer to RealityPod.

"I ordered one for myself and one for my husband, all in the same 20 minute span of time. Well, his came three days ago, but I’ve been told that mine won’t ship for 21-28 days because it’s 'first come, first served'."

The customer also said she was unable to cancel her order and buy an iPhone 4S from the Apple store as an alternative.

"I was thinking that I can cancel my order with AT&T and just go to the Apple store five minutes from my house. I talked to three reps at AT&T and cannot get a straight story: the first time, I was told it would take three days to reinstate my upgrade," she said.

The unsatisfied customer told RealityPod she “will just have to wait” for her iPhone 4S to arrive.
