For those asking if it is possible to get any money for an old iPhone and where is the best place to sell it, CNET gives the answer:

“One of the best things about Apple products is that they have great resale value. Even your iPhone 3GS, which first debuted more than two years ago, can still fetch a good price today,” the website answered to a 16GBiPhone 3GS owner.

If the goal is to get the latest iPhone when it comes later this month, the website reported, you can probably pay for at least half of the new iPhone by selling your old iPhone 3GS.

So where can you sell your iPhones?

According to CNET, you could try selling them on eBay or by placing an ad on Craigslist: “There are other dozens of Websites dedicated to buying your used gadgets.”

It is recommended also to have your iPhone in good condition with only a “few minor scratches here and there, but no major scratches and no cracked screens.”

In different websites, the pricing varies on these devices, as of Monday afternoon, CNET reported. For instance, in Cash (http://cashforiphones.com/indexs.php) for iPhones the price for an iPhone 3GS 16GB is $206 while in eBay Cash-in (http://instantsale.ebay.com/) for the same device the price is $177.

Users will see that there are great differences in resale value. For instance, there is a huge difference in resale value for an iPhone 4 from AT&T versus one from Verizon Wireless, although the phones are exactly the same, except for the network technology that they use.

It was found that the difference in selling a used Verizon iPhone 4 and an AT&T iPhone 4 is about $150 in how much a user can get.

For those who are serious about selling their old iPhone the suggestion is to check out these Web sites:

6-Sell Your Cell
