The iPhone 3GS has also been downsized to an 8GB phone and will be free with a two-year contract.

The iPhone 4S comes with a host of new specs including a battery life of up to eight hours of 3G talk time and 10 hours of video, 4G like speeds thanks the new antenna Apple will be including on the device, and an 8 megapixel camera that also captures video in 1080p HD.

While the device has the same basic framework as the iPhone 4, its updates more or less make it a whole new phone, with a price tag to match.

Contrary to rumors, the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS are now the low cost options for customers, containing the same specs that are known for the devices with a standardized amount of memory.

Customers can now decide if they want a new toy or if they want to be trendy yet economical.

It was also revealed at the conference that Sprint is now among the networks powering the iPhone 4S.

However it was not specifically stated whether the network would be powering the iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS.

The iPhone 4S will begin taking pre-orders on October 7 and will begin shipping on October 14.
