3. Co-pilot’s motive for FlyDubai attack under investigation

The co-pilot accused of attacking Machchhar is an Omani national who was arrested after the emergency landing, a regional official briefed on the investigation told The Associated Press.

The official said Saudi authorities are working with Israel, the UAE, the United States and Oman to try to determine the suspect’s motive.

“All possible scenarios, from terrorism to mental disorders, are being looked into. Nothing is ruled out for now,” the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said in a statement.
