Yankees Fan Jay-Z Tapes Jeter's 3,000th Hit

New York Yankee Derek Jeter made baseball history on Saturday when he hit his 3,000th hit into the stands of Yankee Stadium. Devoted fan, rapper Jay-Z was one of thousands at the stadium to witness the event, and he caught the historical moment on video.

Jay-Z’s video catches the moment of Jeter’s record-setting home run when hundreds of cameras flailed wildly and the appreciative crowd erupted in to cheers and applause. On the video Jay-Z can be heard giving a commentary on the action as it unfolds.

The video footage also shows Jay-Z congratulating Jeter after the game face-to-face in the locker room. After the game a delighted Jay-Z told Yankee’s Yes Network, “It was amazing, it brings you back to being a child. It’s a storybook.”

Derek Jeter has been the New York Yankee’s team captain since 2003 and has played for the team his entire career. He is the 28th player in MLB history to reach 3,000 hits, and the first Yankee to ever do so. Considered one of the best players of his generation, Jeter is now also considered a major icon for New York as a role model for clean, loyal performances in baseball.

Multi-faceted artist Jay-Z is native to New York City and has sold approximately 50 million records worldwide, and has received 13 Grammy Awards. Along with his video of Jeter’s record-making hit, Jay-Z has received accolades for his behind-the scenes video of his wife, singer Beyonce, as she warmed up for her performance on Good Morning America two weeks ago.
