Jennifer Hudson to Sing, Answer Questions at TD Jakes' MegaFest Festival

Award-winning actress and singer Jennifer Hudson is going to perform at TD Jakes' MegaFest family festival in Dallas, Texas, on Aug 31, and answer questions about "Winnie Mandela," the Jakes-presented biopic on the life of Nelson Mandela's former wife, in which she stars in.

Hudson will perform at the Women of Purpose concert as part of Megafest, Dallas News reported, alongside other artists such as Toni Braxton, Holly Robinson Peete, Babyface, Brandy, Mary Mary and Kim Burrell. Actor and comedian Steve Harvey will host the show.

MegaFest is going to bring together some of the biggest faith leaders in America, including Joel Osteen of Lakewood Church and Creflo Dollar of World Changers International Church, as well as notable figures such as Oprah Winfrey, who will host one of her Lifeclass shows and talk with Jakes during Megafest.

The movie on Winnie Mandela, where Hudson plays the title character alongside Terrance Howard, who portrays Nelson Mandela, is set to be released on Sept. 6. Hudson is expected to answer questions about the film following a screening during MegaFest's International Faith and Family Film Festival

"This movie offers American audiences a rare opportunity to visit the amazing beauty of South Africa from a theater seat," Jakes has said about "Winnie Mandela."

"But even more, it is an epic look at love and liberty and the great expense incurred to attain and maintain either. It is our honor to inspire a wider audience to sample the drama of a love life painted on the canvas of Apartheid."

An initial version of the film was shown at the Toronto Film Festival in 2011, but the updated $15 million drama is now set for its U.S. release.

MegaFest is expected to draw close to 50,000 people in Dallas during a weekend of concerts, workshops and various other events that will be hosted by the Potter's House and take place in different avenues around the city. Further information, including registration is available on the festival's official website.
