Jennifer Lopez in Jenni Rivera Biopic?: Rumors Denied

Rumors that Jennifer Lopez will appear in a biopic about Mexican singer Jenni Rivera have been denied.

Online rumors suggested earlier in the week that Jennifer Lopez had shown an interest in creating a biopic film about Mexican pop star Jenni Rivera, who died in a plane crash last year at the age of 43. She was allegedly in talks with Rivera's family members, attempting to buy rights to the biopic through her company, Nuyorican Productions.

"JLO has taken the initiative and reached out to Rivera's sister, Rosie, whom Rivera left in charge of her estate, finances and children," a Fox report stated.

Those rumors however, have been dismissed by a source close to the family members of Rivera.

"The J.Lo rumor is not true," a source told Access Hollwood.

The rumors surfaced just after it was announced that Rivera's reality show "I Love Jenni," which placed a focus on that srar's chaotic family life, would run for another season.

"It's really a reality show – the camera following me into things I'm doing now, which is just being myself," Rivera told Billboard in an interview before the December crash.

Lopez had previously spoken favorably of Rivera. After news surfaced that Rivera's plane had crashed, the former "American Idol Judge" shared her condolences with the family.

"I didn't know her personally but I knew of her. For me, just being on tour right now, you live the same type of life. You know what I mean? It's traveling, it's doing shows," Lopez said. "I'm sure she was rushing to get home to her kids at that time so she took the flight at 3 in the morning. So you go like, wow, it's just like a wake-up call for everybody. It's tragic. She was so young, so young, and she had five kids. It just wasn't her time, it feels like."
